Survey methodology and demographics
To gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by female-powered mid-market businesses in the UK, we conducted a survey of 101 female C-suite executives. The survey aimed to identify the barriers that hinder the growth and progression of female-led businesses and explore potential solutions.
The survey respondents consisted of female C-suite executives, including CEOs, COOs, CFOs, and business owners and founders. The respondents were based in the UK, from mid-sized businesses (£10m - £300m turnover), within the following industries: real estate, retail and leisure, technology, non-profit, creative (e.g. media and marketing) and financial services.
The survey research was conducted by Censuswide. The data was collected between 18 June 2024 and 28 June 2024. Censuswide is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by and employs members of the Market Research Society and follows the MRS code of conduct and ESOMAR principles.
As well as our survey, we conducted in-depth interviews with women in C-suite and founder roles across different industries to better understand the issues and have identified what can be done at a policy, organisational and individual level to make necessary change. View our leadership panel here.
