Welcome to the latest edition of Property Perspectives – your window to the dynamic world of real estate. This month's issue is packed with invaluable insights and trends carefully curated by our legal team at Cripps.
The Building Safety Act 2022 is the arguably the most impactful piece of property legislation to reach the statute books in the majority of our lifetimes. The Act, together with the raft of legislation passed under it and the developing case law arising out it directly affects almost everyone with an interest in real estate, so it is only right that we dedicate an edition of Property Perspectives to it.
In this December edition we introduce the 12 Days of the BSA, a summary of a dozen key cases arising out of the Building Safety Act and why each of them are important. Erin Stephenson considers how the case of Lehner v Lant Street Management Company Ltd might assist us in applying leaseholder protections. Last but not least, in the final edition of our series of conversation vlogs, Jane Canham and Jessica Dick discuss the changes to the Building Safety Act 2022 which have been and will be introduced by the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024.
Away from the Building Safety Act, this bumper edition of Property Perspectives also includes Jordan Yelland-Hey’s review of the ongoing consultation process to reform the right to renew business tenancies, and Alison Spender’s analysis of the regulations relating to High Street auctions of empty commercial space which took effect on 2 December and our thoughts on the recent Companies House reforms.
We hope Property Perspectives becomes your go-to resource for industry news and expert legal opinion. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to reach out to our business development manager, Charlotte Davidson.
